Mr. Peter Kiraly

Clinical Research Lead

Professional Highlights: Peter is a medical and surgical retina specialist with a particular focus on ocular gene therapy. He has contributed to multiple pioneering gene therapy trials, including treatments for RPE65-related retinal dystrophies and age-related macular degeneration, and is involved in the development of a novel gene therapy for Usher syndrome. He holds a PhD in Biomedicine and is nearing completion of a prestigious Doctor of Medicine degree (higher doctorate) at the University of Oxford.

Career: Peter completed his ophthalmology training at the University Eye Hospital in Ljubljana, followed by a Medical Retina Fellowship, a Clinical Research Fellowship at the Oxford Eye Hospital, and a Vitreoretinal Fellowship at the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. He has published over 40 peer-reviewed scientific papers and book chapters in high-impact ophthalmology journals. He is a member of the EURETINA Young Retina Specialists (YOURS) Committee and is deeply committed to academic excellence, regularly presenting at leading international congresses and mentoring young ophthalmologists.
