Sarah Sabour Pickett
Optometrist
Sarah is an Optometrist (FAOI), graduating from Kevin St. DIT in 2007. After working in clinical practice in Dublin for a number of years, she moved to Waterford to begin research in the area of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) with the Macular Pigment Research Group and the IoES. In this area, she specifically looked into the visual impact of certain interventions in patients with early or late (wet) AMD. She completed her PhD in 2012 and was able to publish a number of peer-reviewed papers in the process.
After returning again to clinical work in the years that followed, Sarah also worked as a lecturer from 2016-2018 in the Department of Optometry in DIT. Here she supervised students in clinical labs, formulating and conducting lectures for both optometry and optical dispensing students.
Sarah recently returned to Waterford and is delighted to be able to work with the team at the Institute of Eye Surgery again.
