Lorraine O’Keeffe

Orthoptist

Lorraine graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2005 with a 2:1 degree in Orthoptics and was awarded the MacGalliard Prize by the University. She has over 10 years’ experience working as an Orthoptist.

She worked in Beaumont Hospital, Dublin for 2 years in neuro-ophthalmology and orbital clinics.

In 2007, she spent a year working at Boston Children’s Hospital in the US where she saw a lot of complex paediatric and adult strabismus. Following this, Lorraine worked for 4 years in Waterford Regional Hospital and South East Community Care centres seeing a mix of children and adults.

Lorraine has been working as a Senior Orthoptist in the Royal Victoria Eye & Ear Hospital and Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin since January 2012.  She also has a private clinic at the Institute of Eye Surgery in Whitfield Clinic, Waterford. She has completed postgraduate study on stroke and vision at the University of Sheffield and enjoys teaching ocular motility to orthoptic students, medical students and to ophthalmology trainees.
